Riviera Oak

Alex and I placed Hampton TB and Rasta Gecko in a new cache in Weedon Island. We call it Riviera Oak for the views of Riviera Bay and the only oak tree in a sea of palms and palmettos. We walked to Weedon Island to place the cache...GEEEESCH! Is it ever HOT!!!!!

Rock Lobsta Rock, Damariscotta River

Doug and I found this place yesterday and thought it would be a great location for a lobster cache. This is our first hiding experience. We're anxious to see if anyone finds it. We made it there by boat. We're not really sure if you can get there on foot. Below is the view from the rock.

Shell Game, Damariscotta Maine

Doug and I were a little sidetracked on this hunt. We ended up in some rather smelly mud on the wrong side of the Rt. 1 bridge over the Damariscotta River. We figured out that there must be another way in. We finally found the official park entrance off Business Rt. 1. There were plenty of muggles around, but no one saw us pick up the cache. We took nothing and left two Florida shells. The views of the Damariscotta River were beautiful. Afterward we had some icecream at Roundtop, the "best icecream in Maine".

Singing Meadows, Edgecomb Maine

I've never had the pleasure of walking through a grassy meadow on such a beautiful Maine day. Doug and I had fun finding this cache in Edgecomb, Maine. Doug even got a great shot of one of the many Monarch butterflies that accompanied us on our hike. We picked up a TB from Virginia. We're planning to place it in Florida when we return home.

Indiantown Island, Boothbay Harbor Maine

Now this was a great find with an even better story. The only way to get to this island is by boat (specifically kayaks). Trish, Rick, Doug, and I decided to see if there was any place we could dock our small boat. Half the island is private. The other half is Boothbay Harbor Landtrust. The only dock looked like it was private, but Trish and I decided to give it try. Once we hit land, we KNEW it was private property, and figured out that we would have to go over it to get to the trail. Lenny, the caretaker approached us (I'm sure wondering what the heck we were doing). We told him all about geocaching, then apologized for trespassing and started to leave. Lenny said, "wait a minute, I want to find this thing, too". Once we read him the clues, he seemed to know exactly where it was located. He gave us a ride in his cool and convenient ATV. And, it was Lenny who actually found the cache. We couldn't have done it without him. He was kind enough to let us take his picture. But, the funniest part of this trip was the look on Doug and Rick's faces when we rode back to the dock in Lenny's ATV. It was quite an adventure. We signed the log, left nothing, took nothing, but brought back an awesome story.

Robinson's Wharf, Southport Maine

I couldn't believe how many geocaches are located in the Boothbay Harbor area. Trish and Rick came up to Maine with Doug and me. Today we boated from the house to Robinson's Wharf for lunch. Just around the corner is an old operational swing bridge. The Bridge Boys geocache was located very near the bridge. Trish, Rick, and I found the loot pretty quickly. We left a shell, signed the log, and took nothing.

July 20, 2006 Sawgrass Stash

Alex and I are so excited about Geocaching, we decided to get another one in before our vacations on Friday. We really wanted to pick up a travel bug to take to Maine. I've lived in St. Petersburg for 5 years and never visited Sawgrass Lake Park. It was beautiful. The clues for Sawgrass Stash were excellent and we even learned a lot along the way. We found a travel bug, but I mistakenly detached it from its keychain. I realized this when I logged into the site to track the bug. I emailed the person who started it to ask him what to do. As it turns out, he also received an email from the people who had the keychain portion. He asked me to mail it to them. Problem solved. This is such an interesting process.

We had so much fun, we did it again!

This one was a little easier to reach. The clues were enough to get us to the right location. We found the cache in no time. Next, we hope to search for some full-size treasures.

First Geocache Find - Fossiltate

This is our very first Geocache post about our very first find. It was a micro-cache with a log. We decided to sign it A&W Rootbeer (for Alex and Wendy). We almost gave up ... then we looked up.
